That question led to the creation of Greenplan, EPG’s intelligent routing solution developed in collaboration with the University of Bonn’s discrete mathematics department. But to make truly optimised route planning a reality, Greenplan needed something crucial – precise, real-time traffic data. Enter TomTom.
Traditional route planning tools prioritize minimizing distance, but in reality, the shortest route isn’t always the fastest. Traffic congestion, road restrictions, and peak-hour slowdowns frequently disrupt pre-planned stop sequences, leading to delays and inefficiencies.
Greenplan partnered with TomTom to integrate comprehensive, predictive traffic data into its routing algorithms. TomTom continuously tracks road speeds every five minutes across 200-meter street segments, providing a picture of actual road conditions. Read more…
