Big early win for EPG in Australia as Hellmann deploys LFS Warehouse Management System

Ehrhardt Partner Group’s just-opened Australia office has got off to a flying start by winning a significant warehouse management system (WMS) deal with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, a major international logistics operator.

Hellmann is to deploy EPG’s global-leading LFS WMS at all of its Australian warehouses and distribution centres. The fast decision by Hellmann to switch from another well-known WMS supplier in Australia indicates how highly it regards EPG’s proven cost-efficient software, which it already uses at many global sites, including those in New Zealand and the United States. The news comes hot on the heels of LFS being recognised as a Challenger in the 2022 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Warehouse Management Systems.

Successful start for new EPG branch in Australia.

Improved Process Workflow Efficiencies

The highly-regarded LFS WMS system will enable Hellmann to increase process workflow efficiency at its three Australia facilities, in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Hellmann recently secured a distribution contract with a global automotive supplier in Australia and both companies will now employ LFS, enabling them to facilitate both stock transfer and natural efficiencies via the single system. Hellmann managers took the decision to switch to LFS when it became clear that the previous competitor WMS in operation could not match the new client’s demands.

Designed for all types of warehouse operation, LFS actively guides the movement of all manual and automated storage units, creating measurable savings. Continuous improvement is built-in, while a huge range of benefits and applications can be adapted to suit individual customer needs. With over 30 proven years of experience, EPG’s software engineering and implementation prowess has optimised supply chains around the world.

EPG Agility and Speed

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics executives were particularly impressed with EPG’s agility, given the tight time constraints it asked the German-based software specialist to fulfil. EPG Head of Sales for Australia and New Zealand David Archer says: “We created a roadmap with the client to make the implementation as smooth as possible, even though time was in short supply. COVID regulations for entry into Australia were another obstacle to overcome, so most early meetings were carried out remotely. However, for Go-Live and Post Go-Live, we flew staff to Australia and employed a Project Manager to assist Hellmann on-sites. I’m delighted to say that the Go-Live in May 2022 was highly successful and trouble-free.”

The support of an international company with the repute of Hellmann is a fine endorsement of EPG’s product portfolio and delivery. Founded in 1871, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is one of the world’s oldest logistics companies, with over 260 offices and 12,000 employees around the globe. It has deployed EPG software at many of these locations.

Further Projects Ahead

Hellmann APAC Regional Contract Logistics Director Mr. Mark Fitzpatrick said: “We have been very happy with the launch of our EPG partnership in Australia. David and his team have worked tirelessly to ensure that the tight timeline has been achieved in order to meet the project go-live. The LFS deployment has been smooth and efficient, especially when compared to our incumbent / legacy WMS. I have been impressed by the implementation pace and the efficiency that the EPG / Hellmann team attained by working together with one common goal. I recognize and appreciate the knowledge and commitment that EPG brought to the project and we are looking forward to working with them on further projects.”

EPG opened its first Australia office in 2022, as it believes the territory offers significant growth opportunities. Sydney-based David Archer is excited by the prospects. “By establishing our team here, EPG will be closer to the local market, enabling us to serve our clients better,” he says. “We aim to prove ourselves in Australia and New Zealand as a priority before we contemplate extending to a broader South Asia presence. We have every confidence that we will grow very quickly, and our experience in other markets gives us good reason to think in that way.”
